Update #1- 6/27

Eric is sitting up in a chair and has had some crackers to eat. He is starting to speak more and has a better short term memory. His fever is gone-praise the Lord.

However, he is having intense pain in his lower abdomen, so they will be running some tests today, to determine the cause.

Prayer Requests:
~Thanksgiving that he is improving by the hour and that his fever is gone
~Relief from his pain
~That the tests would find the cause of the pain and that it would be resolved quickly

I just want to say again that we all appreciate the amazing comments! I have been printing them up to take to the hospital. Everyone loves to read the comments and we have laughed and cried over them. It is inspiring to see the support from all over the country. We can feel the love and prayers! Keep it coming....

Eric & Jana,
Words cannot express how thankful we are to have you in our lives. You have been wonderful and loyal friends and we appreciate that about you, as well as all the laughs we have together.

Eric, you have been a huge part of Randy's life and I'm grateful that he has a friend like you.

Do you know how loved you are? There are people all over the country praying for you. You are an exceptional person! You are nothing short of a miracle and we thank the Lord multiple times a day that you are here with us!

Jana, what an amazing friend, daughter, and wife you are!!!! You are loyal, compassionate, and kind. Even in the midst of uncertainty, you have remained true to your wonderful qualities. You have not only been concerned about Eric, but also those around you. What a kind heart you have!

We are still praying continually for both of you!

We love you!
Jenn, Randy, Kaelin, and Reece

BIG E!

That's awesome to hear that you are sitting up and eating some crackers. I bet they're on time huh! I'm so happy to hear that your fever is gone and that you are continuing to recall things. You know, I had no idea how much you like food. I mean I know you like it but geeez man! I've been reading through the comments and I read comments about cornbread, double cheeseburgers(that was me) Dutch heritage, BBQ. The only thing left I think is a FITH SANDWICH!(Fish Sandwich) For now take it slow and just stick with those captains wafers. When you're all better I'm sure everyone will be treating you to whatever you want.

See you real soon,
Kelby

Eric and Jana, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I have definitely enjoyed reading this blog-a big thanks to everyone who has posted updates. When I think about the two of you I always have to laugh about the time that Jana and I took your jeep, Eric, to a Hesston baseball game and it literally stopped running on the highway. Jana and I freaked out, and then decided to start walking to the nearest exit. Yeah, the jeep ran out of gas. Eric, I hope that during this time you will get a chance to laugh with your family and friends. Oh, and ESPN has all your updates on the draft!

I'm glad you are progressing and hope you continue to heal and be blessed during this time. Jana, stay strong!

Eric, We thank God for the healing that he has already done and for the healing that is continually taking place. You are a special person and we have been blessed to have you as part of our family. We pray for your pain to ease and a quick recovery. I pray that you can feel God's arms around you during this time. You are blessed with a wonderful wife, family and friends to help you through this time. We love you.

Jana, You are a beautiful person and we rejoice with you in the healing that has taken place in Eric. Something that you need to remember at this time is that you need to stay healthy in order to help Eric. As hard as it seems look for those times when you can get some rest and something to eat even though you may not feel like it. You have a wonderful family and friends that are there to help. Let them. Look to God for your strength. We love you.

Love and prayers,

Eric,
All I can say is WOW! We serve mighty God! We are praising Him right now for the amazing progress you are making! You have been in our prayers every day from the beginning. (along with LOTS of others) You've got an incredible support system of friends and family rallying around you. It's a privilege to be apart of that bunch. We were at the hospital last night (Thurs) but couldn't get in to see you. Maybe next time. I had to chuckle at the post that Randy wrote last night regarding the conversation between Randy, Kelby, Andy, and you. So typical of you guys...sports and food. :) We all love you and are cheering you on. Can't wait to see more progress!

Jana,
You have been in my thoughts every day. My heart ached for you when we got the 1st call and it rejoiced with you as we watched Eric's progress. It's now overflowing as I see the future ahead and put my complete faith in God to carry out the plan he has for you and Eric. What a run of emotions, huh? Just know we'll be here for you both every step of the way. I love you and am lifting you up.

I read this verse today and thought of you:

Proverbs 31:12 She comforts, encourages, and does him only good as long as there is life within her.

Much love: Jess (& Rod too)

Eric, I am glad to hear you are getting better, when Sarah (Mom) called and told me what happened I could hardly believe it. Now to hear you are making such great progress is truly great. God is so wonderful and he has amazed me at all His mircles he has and continues to provide for my family and myself. I will continue to pray for a speedy recovery for you.

Jana, Rachel and Loren, My thoughts and prayers are with you guys as well.

I hope to see you all soon!

With Love, Michelle Utz
